Cause we love to shop!

Bright Blue!

Hello all you beautiful people out there!

Firstly, I want to tell you that I have been chosen to be the author of a new blog http://thefashionslave.wordpress.com/ started by talented fashion photographer Hemanth Narayana and I will also be contributing articles to http://www.explosivefashion.in/fashion.php, a blog by writer extraordinaire Jasmeen Dugal. Yay! Watch out for my weekly posts over there! Will definitely keep you updated.

We are all witnessing the faint beginning of summer. Soon it’s going to be hot, hot, hot! And by the time we have understood and started updating our wardrobe with the hot pieces for the summer new trends for 2012 have already walked down the ramps of Paris and Milan. So much to keep up with and so little time [and money] 😉 But don’t worry, you might think you are the only one but all of us are somehow stuck in the mess of bills going out of hand and debit card balance running down to negligible; just because you spotted that perfect black dress with zipper details or those flawless studded booties. We have all been there, done that. I recently bought a super hot white dress which somewhat burnt a hole in my pocket. [Don’t judge me! It’s the colour of the season and it came with tassels and everything!] But with time we become smarter. I have learnt the trick to stop myself before I start feeling guilty. My trick is to invest in one or two expensive pieces and go easy on the rest. To do this its important to know the difference between a classic and a trend. But I must say a wardrobe filled with just classics can be a bore. One must have trendy pieces to make the outfit look glamorous. So here are some trendy pieces [Other than the ones mentioned in my previous posts] that you can add to your wardrobe this summer.

Lace is huge this season. And I’m loving it. Spotted on the runways of Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Christopher Kane and Balenciaga the peak – a – boo fabric must make it into your wardrobe. Wear it like a hard-core punk, a sweet girl next door or a sexy siren. Channelize your inner diva!

Miuccia Prada, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Moschino and many others went all out with prints. Graphic, floral, animal! You name it! There is a print for every occasion.

Make sure to have a nice pair of pants in your closet. Flared, high – waisted, cropped, cigarette, boy friend style, seventies – inspired a pick for everyone and every body-type. I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair soon!

Colours this season are bright, bright, bright. Everything from citrus hues, electric blues to popping pinks was show cased on the runway and yes, it left me drooling for more. Not a big fan of too much colour, but these candy coated yummies made me reconsider my choice due to their almost edible appeal.

Last but not the least, never under-estimate the power of accessories. If you are running low on the bucks, invest in accessories rather than new clothes and it will help you create an entirely new look from what you already have. Also always think of garments according to their cost per wear. If you think you can wear it forever don’t hesitate in purchasing. However, if you think it’s just a passing fad look for a more reasonable option.

Be a smart shopper this summer,

Xx
